Harbhajan Singh & Nehra out; S.Arvind & Rahul Sharma in

The Indian squad for the five-match ODI series against England has been announced and the selectors left out Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra for the first two games which will be played in Hyderabad on October 14 and New Delhi on October 17. Instead, Karnataka medium-pacer Sreenath Aravind and Punjab legspinner Rahul Sharma got the call-up which has been aimed to strengthen the bowling. Varun Aaron, who was flown to England for the Test series, but ignored by the team management, has been retained.

IPL cricket update: Chennai Super Kings crushes Rajasthan Royals by 63 runs

Murali Vijay and MS Dhoni fashion Chennai Super Kings' 63-run win over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Monday. Chennai posted a formidable 196/3 before bowling out Rajasthan cheaply for 133 to keep hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Indian Premier League T20 tournament. Ajinkya Rahane (52) and Rahul Dravid (20) were the major contributors for Rajasthan, who suffered their fifth defeat in 11 matches. Australian pacer Doug Bollinger was the most successful bowler with 3/22 while off-spinner R. Ashwin took 2-24.

IPL cricket update: Sunny Sohal’s half-century helped Deccan Chargers with a 16-run win over Delhi Daredevils

Sunny Sohal top-scored for Deccan Chargers with a quickfire 62 (41 balls, 8 fours and 1 six) that helped them post a challenging 168-4 before restricting Delhi to 152-7. The Chargers won by 16 runs and this is their second victory in five matches of the IPL Twenty20 tournament. Australian David Warner top- scored for Delhi with  51 (48 balls, 5 fours and 1 six) and added 52 for the fourth wicket with Venugopal Rao (21) to stay in the hunt but it could not save Delhi crashing to their third defeat in four games.

KKR beat Deccan Chargers by 9 runs

Kolkata Knight Riders secured their maiden win in IPL 4 by beating Deccan Chargers by nine runs at the Eden Gardens here on Monday. Chasing a target of 164, DC stuttered after it after it lost both the openers for 15 runs.  KKR opened their bowling with left-arm slow bowler Iqbal Abdulla which paid rich dividends as he took three wickets for 24 runs to seal the win. Only Bharat Chipli (48) held the innings together while the rest of the batsmen failed to come in grips with the run chase.

Imran Tahir: The new spin bowling sensation

The highly rated 31 year old leg spinner, Imran Tahir made his ODI debut in the world cup match against West Indies and did'nt disappoint. He lived to his expectations to make a stand out performance with impressive figures of 10-1-41-4 to help South Africa win their  World Cup Group B with a comfortable seven-wicket win. AB de Villiers chalked up the the fastest World Cup century by a South African with an unbeaten 107 (105 balls) containing eight boundaries and two sixes. West Indies made 222 all out mainly due to the efforts of halfbrothers Darren (73) and Dwayne Bravo (40).
