The Road to 2011 Champions League Twenty20

The Nokia CLT20 2011 edition will be held in India from 23 September to 9 October 2011 at Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderadad.  Chennai Super Kings defends the 2010 CLT20 second edition. In the 2011 edition, a preliminary qualifier round involving teams from Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies, the top two county sides, and a fourth Indian team in the tournament.

Tendulkar named in the ICC Test team of the year

Batting maestro, Sachin Tendulkar is the lone Indian player to figure in the ICC Test Team of the Year. Tendulkar retained his spot in the Test team for the third year running, while Zaheer Khan was the other Indian to figure in the squad though as a 12th man.

Chennai Super Kings successfully defended their second consecutive Indian Premier League title with a 58-run clinical demolition of Royal Challengers Bangalore in a one-sided final on Saturday in Chennai. CSK opener M. Vijay’s blistering 95 runs off just 52 balls helped the defending champions to post a formidable 205-5 in 20 overs. RCB’s run chase started on disasterous note with the dangerous Chris Gayle Ravichandran consumed by R. Ashwin for 3-ball duck followed by Agarwal in quick succession.

IPL cricket update: Kolkata Knight Riders thrashes Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders scored hat-trick wins as they thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets at the Eden Gardens on Sunday in front of over 50,000-strong partisan crowd. Lakshmipathy Balaji was the unlikely hero for KKR with dream figures of three for 15 in 3 overs and well supported by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan who snared two wickets off two balls as the Royals were bowled out for a paltry score of 81 in 15.2 overs. KKR started their run chase on a disastrous note with prolific Jacques Kallis perished in the first-over off Shaun Tait delivery.

Australia thrash Canada by 7 wkts

All-rounder Shane Watson (94) and Brad Haddins (88) hammered half-centuries and involved in an opening wicket partnership of 183 runs, an Australian record for first wicket, to shape Austrialia’s win over Canada by 7 wickets with 15 overs to spare. Man-of-the-match Watson struck the biggest six of the world cup 2011 (104 meters) as Australia thrashed Canada to top ICC Cricket World Cup Group A.

Kemar Roach takes the first hat-trick in ICC CWC 2011

Kemar Roach is the first bowler to take hat-trick in ICC CWC 2011 as West indies hammered the hapless Dutch by 215 runs. After West Indies was put into bat, Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Devon Smith scored half-centuries, that helped them to post an imposing 330/8 in 50 overs at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi. Pollard thumped 60 off just 27 balls toward the end of the windies innings.Left-arm spinner Pieter Seelaar was the pick of the Holland bowlers with three wickets.

Herschelle Gibbs's record feat of scoring six sixes in an over

Herschelle Gibbs made World Cup & ODI international record by smashing six sixes in one over of Daan van Bunge over in South Africa's 221-run win against the Netherlands at St Kitts in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. He became the first player to hit six sixes in one over of a Cricket World Cup match.Gibbs clobbered 72 runs in just 40 balls with four fours and seven sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 180.
