IPL cricket update: Delhi pulled off a sensational win against Pune

The heroics of Pune Warriors captain Yuvraj Singh with both bat and ball went in vain as Delhi Daredevils cruised to a thrilling 3-wicket win at Mumbai on Sunday. Yuvraj scored a scintillating innings that helped Pune to post a challenging 187-5 before Delhi achieved the target with four balls to spare to press their first victory in three matches in the Indian Premier League. Delhi required eight runs to win off the last over with 3 wickets in hand but Australian James Hopes (13 not out) hoisted a six and a four off successive deliveries from Jesse Ryder to win the match in style.

Malinga wrecks Delhi with five-wkt haul

Lasith Malinga’s fury following his team’s ouster in the world cup final against India a few days back is very much evident in the match against Delhi Daredevils as he scalped five wickets with his toe-crushers for a measly 13 runs. Four out of his five wickets fell with his toe-crushing yorkers dismantled the stumps and the Daredevils were scuttled out for a meagre 95. Malinga deservedly won Man-of-the-Match award, the third bowler to take five wickets in the IPL 4 edition.

Sachin Tendulkar: Dhoni is the best captain I've played under

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has scored more runs in International cricket in his 21-year-old career than any other cricketer and has fulfilled his dream of winning the World Cup for India in his home soil. The 38-year-old legend has played under nine Indian captains namely, Krish Srikkanth, Mohd Azharuddin, Ravi Shastri, Ajay Jadeja, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble and MS Dhoni.  Sachin Tendulkar has rated MS Dhoni as the best skipper he had played under in his career. "He (Dhoni) is the best captain I have played under.

India still No.2 in latest ICC ODI rankings

Though India has been crowned as the new world champions the ODI ranking still relegates the team to No.2 with Australia remaining the top-ranked team. Most of Team India players occupied top positions in the individual standing. Australia have the chance to improve its tally further with their upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh starting next week. Here is the current ODI ranking released by ICC:

Yuvraj guides India to a 5-wkt win over Australia to set up a semi-final knock-out with Pakistan

India beat Australia by five wickets to set-up a semi-final clash with Pakistan on Mar 30 at Mohali in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Man Friday Yuvraj Singh set up yet another stellar all-round performace to steer India’s win against Aussies at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, on Thursday. He came up with bowling figures of 2/44 and then scored an unbeaten 57 to shut the door to four-time World Cup champions, after a gap of 12 years, in front of a packed Motera stadium.

Yuvraj stars in India's win against Ireland

Yuvraj Singh's all round performance with both, bat and ball, helped India beat Ireland by 5 wickets at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Dhoni won the toss and put Ireland to bat. Yuvraj heeded the call of his captain with his maiden five-wicket haul (10-0-31-5) that dismissed the Irish team for a paltry 207. Porterfield (75, 104b, 6x4, 1x6) steadied their innings to add some respectability before Yuvraj struck.

Match fixing charges casts shadow in the flagship event

The International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption Unit was investigating Australia's slow start against Zimbabwe in the Group A match at Ahmedabad on February 221, 2011. Australia scored just 28 runs in the first 10 overs but later on piled up 262 for 6 to win a comfortable 91-run victory against Zimbabwe. Haddin told reporters "It's quite a laughable story. It's a joke.We just got off the mark a bit slowly" during a net session at the SSC in Colombo. Last week, there was suspicion over Pakistan's slow start against Kenya on February 23, 2011.

Australia won a thrilling one run win against India in Cricket World Cup 1987

Australia created history by winning the against India by one run in 1987 Cricket World Cup, a record for the lowest margin of victory in any World Cup. India had eight wickets in hand and required just about 70 runs off the last 15 overs to win their World Cup opener at Chennai on October 9, 2007. Even so, India, with four wickets in hand, needed just 15 from the last four overs; when the last over began, the requirement was 6, with the last man, Maninder Singh, taking strike against Steve Waugh. He managed two 2s in five balls.
