IPL cricket update: Kolkata Knight Riders thrashes Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets
Kolkata Knight Riders scored hat-trick wins as they thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets at the Eden Gardens on Sunday in front of over 50,000-strong partisan crowd. Lakshmipathy Balaji was the unlikely hero for KKR with dream figures of three for 15 in 3 overs and well supported by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan who snared two wickets off two balls as the Royals were bowled out for a paltry score of 81 in 15.2 overs. KKR started their run chase on a disastrous note with prolific Jacques Kallis perished in the first-over off Shaun Tait delivery. Gautam Gambhir (35) and Manvinder Bisla (9) consolidated their innings before Bisla succumbed to Warne. But Gambhir and Tiwary (30 not out off 26 balls, 4x4, 1x6) hammered some lusty blows and raced to the target with 6.1 overs to spare. Tiwary finished the match in style hitting 6, 4 and 4 off Tait's final over to the excitement of the huge audience.Lakshmipathy Balajiwas declared Man-of-the-match for his 3/15.
