IPL Cricket Update: Ishant Sharma wrecks Kochi's batting with a fiery spell of 5 for 12

Ishant Sharma wrecked the Kochi Tuskers Kerala top-order with a fiery spell of 5 for 12 to hand out 55- run victory for Deccan Chargers in their Indian Premier League match in Kochi on Wednesday. Dale Steyn supported Ishant Sharma well as they wreaked havoc on Kochi batsmen from the start of their innings. Steyn polished off the middle-order with a superb 3 for 16 to bowl out Kochi for a paltry 74 in 16.3 overs. Ishant produced a dream spell in the history of the IPL T20 tournment with mind-boggling figures of 3-0-12-5. With this win, Chargers jumped to the sixth spot as they desperately required a victory as they had lost four of the six matches before. Ishant and Steyn capitalized the juicy pitch that assisted pacers and Chargers put on a decent total. Ishant struck thrice in his first over, dismissing Parthiv Patel (0), Raiphi Gomez (0) and Brad Hodge (0) while Dale Steyn had dismissed dangerous Brendon McCullum (0) in the second over. Ishant came back to bowl his second over and grabbed the wickets of Kedar Jadhav (0) in the first ball and Mahela Jayawardene (4) caught behind in the last ball. Ravindra Jadeja (23) and Thisara Perera (22) consolidated the innings with a gritty 36-run stand for the seventh wicket but they could only prolong the inevitable to lose by a huge 55-run margin with 3.3 overs to spare.  Earlier, put into bat, Chargers were in deep trouble at 20 for three in 5.2 overs with RP Singh (2/21) dismissing both the openers, Sunny Sohal (1) and Shikhar Dhawan (4) in his successive overs. Sangakkara and Cameron White (31) steadied the innings with a 90-run stand for the fourth wicket. R Vinay Kumar (3/25) was the pick of the Kochi bowlers dismissing both Sangakkara and White in the last two balls of his final over.
